Political Haiku #1

Our Liar-in-Chief
Accidental honesty
War for a "lesson"

(Also, an interesting analysis of the "Warrantless Wiretapping Scandal" ruling, and how the Department of Justice refused to dispute the merits of the case, thereby basically botching their defense and leaving Judge Taylor no option but to rule in favor of the ACLU.)

While I am greatly pleased with the ruling regarding the wiretapping, I fear it will not hold up. The administration is going to keep appealing this all the way to the Supreme Court, and I have a feeling those bunch of sock puppets are going to overturn this.

The points of law are hard to dispute. The law requires the gov't. go to the FISA court to get a warrant within 72 hours of placing a wiretap. The gov't. has repeatedly, through this program, performed wiretaps without getting a warrant through FISA. Ergo, they are breaking the law. It isn't rocket science, but it is politics, and just goes to show how truly powerless (and clueless) the population of our country really is at this point.
